Specialists

Scott Beaven has links throughout the UK to specialist locksmiths, casters and blacksmiths. Usually small firms, effectively cottage industries who are happy to manufacture very precisely and in small quantities.

Relationships have also been established with architectural salvage companies.

Project Management

On larger projects the building is usually surveyed and a draft schedule prepared of ironmongery as found. Guide prices are provided for replacement or repair. Upon acceptance, the fittings are carefully removed from the doors and windows, recorded and packaged, and marked with their location.

The packages are removed to our Works. Specialist staff then sift through the door packs, sending fittings for cleaning, repair or replacement; having keys fitted to locks or new keeps made; materials are ordered from specialist casters or wood turners. Once processed, the packages are then returned to site, still marked up with their locations. Site carpenters will then be able to re-fix the same or identically matching ironmongery into the same mortises and screw positions.
