Project: Westminster City School
We were invited to schedule this project by the architects Feilden Clegg Bradley (London Studio) as part of Westminster Councils £152m BSF programme.
The brief was the hard wearing functionality expected from a school environment coupled with something a little different to make the ironmongery stand out.
We settled on Dorma cam action door closers throughout with track arms incorporating both electro-magnetic hold open devices and door co-ordinators in some of the more challenging areas. In the residential part of the building we opted for mitred lever handles on back plates. In the educational areas we provided varying length pillared pull handles with a special bead blasted grip zone to provide texture and visual contrast.
We also supplied high quality shear-locks to work with the proximity access control system and co-ordinated with a number of door manufacturers, adapting our products to suit their doors as necessary to provide consistency across the whole project.
