Project: Salford University, Media City, Manchester

We were asked to produce ironmongery schedules for this prestigious project – Salford University’s move to a stunning new Media Facility at the £600m Media City development – by Fairhurst Design Group in Manchester.

With a brief of quality and durability as well as something to fit in with the proposed aesthetic of clean square and rectangular lines we proposed our new and exclusive rectangular rose which at that stage was actually still on the design board.

Prototype samples were made up which we coupled with our flat section lever handle to produce a stylish new lever on rose.   We teamed them with Dorma’s exciting new TS97 cam action door closers which mirror the sleek elegance of our rectangular rose whilst providing excellent functionality.  Once these samples were approved we then set about having the tooling made to enable us to produce these en masse and incorporate accessories throughout our range.

With escape locks prominent throughout and reverse action low-energy door closers (supplied and installed) in certain areas to aid smoke ventilation this really was a challenging and technically excellent specification.  We also provided high quality shear-locks to fit in with the proximity fob system provided by others.
